American Majority Action (AMA) primarily focuses on fiscal issues, but today, we feel driven to point out some pivotal ironies and flaws in President Obama’s proposals. AMA believes in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We believe in an individual’s right to self defense.

After today’s speech, it’s clear that Inalienable Rights are an alien concept to President Obama. It is impossible to increase American families’ security by depriving them of the tools they need for self-defense.

Beyond this general assault on individual freedom, AMA also found two of the 23 Executive Orders signed today particularly hypocritical:

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

AMA and our activists continue to wonder when President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder will release full reports on the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Operation Fast and Furious program.

It’s ironic that today, this administration says we should trace guns involved in investigations. Does the President realize only two out of 2500 guns involved in Fast and Furious were tracked? When will we see reports and information of these now-lost guns?

President Obama signed orders to apply to the general populace that he won’t enforce on his own DOJ. He also proposed gun and magazine bans he won’t enforce on his own Secret Service protection.

This hypocritical attack on American liberty won’t be tolerated–not even by Democrats. We suspect most of the 13 vulnerable Senate Democrats running in 2014 will join conservatives in opposing President Obama’s latest gun control proposals.
