It is easy for conservatives to look around and complain about the problems coming out of Washington DC. Obamacare is worse than imagined, the government was shutdown for 17 days, Common Core has been forced on the states without much input, and many more unpopular policy proposals are on the horizon. But conservatives should stop complaining and should look to run for local office or find candidates to represent their values.
There are many important issues decided at the local level in Wisconsin. Local elected officials determine the property tax bill, the safety of the community, what the kids are taught in school, and even how the area is perceived. It is easy to point the finger at the problems in Washington DC like excessive spending, but local governments spend almost $3 Trillion each year!
